Nostalgia for being oppressed is in full force.

“Ștefan Șerban, 69, sitting on a bench with his friend Nicolae Carja, 74, said life had been better under the former Communist dictator, Nicolae Ceauşescu. “We were a rich country then,” he said. “Industry, petrol, gas, goldmines. And no debt.””

I have friends who immigrated to the Netherlands and then complained that “all these emigrants ruined the Netherlands”… I was blown away…

Well that depends on who you ask of course, white is not a constant, but if you ask them, yes.

A Florida native once wrote that that the people who most want to stop Florida overdevelopment are the ones who brought their house last week.

Do we know why? I have a friend who is Cuban and voted for Trump, but my reason for him is lack of education. What about everyone else?

I grew up with the kids of the original set of Cuban refugees and thought it was because they were the rich people fleeing Castro. So they were already aligned with the right here, they like the idea of being on the upper side of a class divide.

The newer ones may just be anti -abortion, there are a lot of those “single issue voters” everywhere not just here.

It is amazing how the single issue voters choose the party that blatantly lies about their single issue.

Additionally there are a lot of people who choose to remain ignorant about Batista. A communist revolution overthrowing an objectively brutal regime really gets the right wingers on the defensive.

I live in Denmark, I’m a “non-EU” person, but I’m here based on my skilled work. I do stuff, I am useful. So I have nothing against immigration in general, only against the part of immigration walking around malls in their slippers at 1 p.m., because they still haven’t spent all the money they got by faking disability.

How do you know they fake disability?

How do we know you are not faking being skilled?

Moreover: even if they were disabled: does that somehow forbid them from buying things at the mall? Would it be different if they had different footwear? Are disability payments even enough for them to be able to afford to spend on frivolous things? Even if they are, is being disabled a good reason to forbid someone from buying frivolous things? If they’re buying necessities, isn’t it nicer for everyone else if the people who have the time to do their groceries outside rush hours do so then so the registers are less crowded?

It’s just there are two distinct froups of people outside during the working hours: the slipper guys, and pensioners

I’m working, I’m delivering what I have to, and I getting paid for it. For two years at the current workplace. As it is not a charity, I’m pretty sure I would be fired otherwise.
As for the guys in slippers - I don’t know about single one of them, but you know, when you:

          • go out of the office and see a lot of similar-looking guys with beards, wearing tracksuits and slippers, doing fuck all, seemingly all the time, or maybe they work in shifts
          • the statistic showing that the number of disabled adult middle aged “refugees” is double-digit higher that the same number for Danes
, you start thinking there could be a correlation.

It has nothing to do with immigration, the native citizens can do this all the same, and some probably do.

I had managed to keep myself entertained this morning and not fret about this but… yeah, nope, there you are, anxiety, I guess you didn’t go far.

Here’s hoping that a bunch of Romanians woke up a little. With how low participation typically is people could figure this out if they could get over their whole “politicians are just thieves” deal for five minutes for anything but supporting Russian nazis.

I’m gonna go see if I can get myself distracted again. Good luck to everybody voting today.

“All politicians are the same” they say while always voting for the two same parties that happen to be the closest on the political spectrum.
