Only about 3 or 4 male-ish sounding names on here, so I guess Leo the Lion. But I refuse to wear the lion as anything other than a belt!

It’s still legible though. I think it’s leas for the sake of modesty than just maximizing reach in the algorithm of whatever social media it was reposted to. An image-to-text algo would probably not register the marked word(s) to then mark the post as vulgar or 18+, and then show it to fewer people because of that. I see it all the time in posts mentioning Palestine, which started when it became apparent that those kinds of posts were being suppressed.

Along the same lines, sometimes something silly like a hair is edited into the image. I’ve always assumed this is to prevent it from getting caught by content-recognition algorithms, which would mark it as a repost and either remove or de-rank the content.

Seems the hate is better directed at the algorithms that make this worthwhile than the reposters frustrating those efforts to sanitize everything by putting a non-destructive mark on the content.

  • Now I have to fire up WWE to see if “The Virgin” is one of the names you can actually have the announcers say… 🤔

If I can, I’m making a Discord mod wrestler cuz I need more Heels for my custom federation.

    What workers?

    A “s__ worker”?

Someone help, it is literally impossible to read this post with the giant censor bar.

Dita von Teese wrote the foreword to R. F. Johnson’s “Working Girls” which features pictures of - mostly female, mostly dressed - brothel workers, taken in 1892 by William Goldman.

I like this photo in particular, it seems so weirdly un-1800s-like:

    slightly nsfw

I would heartily support that. The Fediverse should take a stand against this advertiser-friendly bullshit.

That would cut down on the number of memes available, since the sources are often censored.

I think we should require someone posting a censored meme add additional censorship to make the message appear more potentially offensive.

I downvote them. If enough people agree to do that then people will probably start making the tiny effort it takes to uncensor the memes.

I’m with you, but our meme community is already so sparse and limited compared to larger platforms that I’m not sure we’d like the results.

Holy shit, these are all amazing.

We’re only missing Long Dick Johnson.

    “The Chinless Wonder.”

    “Dog-faced Kitty.”

    “Fatty McDuff.”

    “Few Clothes Molly.”

… modern day stipper/porn star names got nothin’ on these, goddamn.

This is, to me, the same level/kind of funny as that Japanese baseball game from the 80s, with the hysterical attempts at coming up with American baseball player names.
