I can’t see Israel not accelerating towards fascism and repression after the last year. But I wouldn’t ascribe this to Hamas planning because they haven’t shown themselves to be that strategic or intelligent.

E: Anyone looking at this comment funny should look at the latest polls in Israel. Specifically the popularity of right wing parties. Also look at the opinions about the war among Israeli Jews and non-Jews. Finally look at recent polls about right/left lean and compare it to older ones.

Not sure if inaccuracy makes them less dangerous if they have enough of them to throw. The supply is probably not unlimited but for example we now know that the current combined capability of Israel and whatever the US has in the region can’t stop all of 180 missiles. Assuming my thinking isn’t wrong, that means Iran could throw 500 and expect over 100 to land around their targets. If they really want to hit something, they just have to increase the number. Then of course they might have nothing left after a few salvos, but hit they will.

It would be bad for others who bought missiles from Iran, since they likely don’t have that large stockpiles to compensate. Plus they paid for better accuracy.

If that were possible, it would have likely happened already given how long this regime has stayed in power. It’s also very unlikely that it’s 5 guys in rags after so many decades, so even if they go crazy, the remainder would likely say fuck that and replace them. I think it’s much more useful to look at people as automatons whose actions are driven by the systems they exist in, than to consider them as free actors.

I think it was implicit in their statement that they’re talking about terrorist-supporting, dictatorship-led, oppressive, non-nuclear nations. You can even scratch terrorist-supporting and you still have plenty of tombstones to point to.

Given what we’ve seen over the last little while, do you think Israel won’t be able and willing to topple the regime if they don’t have a lethal gun pointed towards Israel? There’s pressure from the outside, and from the inside on them. They have to keep terrorising to maintain the internal pressure. They have to be able to stop Israel from taking them out as a result of their terrorising. I don’t know if their current arsenal is a deterrent enough for that. If I were a supreme leader who wanted to stay in power, I’d be overturning mandatory prayer for the nuclear scientists and enginners working overtime to get to a test detonation (not over Israel) ASAP. As a supreme leader I feel like last year, perhaps even weeks ago, I did have the option to not make nukes. After the attacks in Lebanon that left my primary deterrent in an unknown state of degradation, I’m not feeling so lucky.

So umm, Iran’s leadership won’t stop nuclear weapons development. It can’t stop. Therefore to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons, it means that the US has to help remove Iran’s leadership. If you quit because you don’t agree with the way things are going, a compliant shit-ass PM will take your place, or no PM, and the people would end up in the place the parent described.

I edited it at the very beginning before there was any activity because I realized it’s less ambiguous to have non overlapping intervals. Started with 1-3, 3-5, 5+. Settled on 1-3, 4-6, 7+.
