Sorry its a pebble.
IT’S A MINERAL!
It’s a stone!!
Dammit, Marie!
Its a pebble
Looks more like a stone to me.
I’m sorry but you have no point of refrence! No banana to scale. Could be a large stone
It’s apparently igneous, so you could use grain size. Based on that, probably around the size of a baseball. I’m going with ‘large stone’ lol
Could be a giant boulder
I would describe it more as a well rounded piece of gravel, just calling it a rock disregards the geological implications of fluid transport and energy involved with a well rounded stone of that size.
Wow, just TYPICAL that one of you people would just IGNORE the fact that the object is actually an accumulation of particles that were formed in a number of astronomical events over billions of years, I guess you don’t even CARE about the rich history that went into this object before your precious “geology” worked on it, and only care if it’s “well rounded.”
Go fuck yourself you rock loving perv, take your big stone post and deposit your filthy sediment somewhere else!
Hey, fuck you and your kink shaming
What if a child saw this post? Do you want children to get traumatised by this disgusting sinful rock perversion?!?
i saw that rock posting on lemmy.ml.
Of any rock you could have posted, you post this thing? Bleh.
Some of us like that ‘thing’!
Huh, here I thought it was an egg.
That’s an egg fossil
No, this is Patrick!
Lemmy already has enough anger. Cant we use this post to have a peaceful discussion?
No
Ok.
Wrong.
Ok.
rock
Clearly a stone.
Failed again.
It’s an image.
It’s clearly just binary code.
Duh those are electrons.
More like quarks and other shit.
This is all just a collective hallucination
How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren’t real
Right on, man.
Are you talking to me?
Or are you talking to yourself?
Or am I talking to myself?
The “other shit” being mostly electrons and photons.
Smaller shit than that. If you’ve got quarks in the mix, we’re looking for muons and Higgs bosons and the like.
This implies that you can both see where the electrons are and where they’re going. Obviously that’s impossible.
The only thing obvious is that obvious is but an illusion.
But we might be living in a simulation, so the electrons are probably just binary code.
No u
Yep, seems like a static gif file. That’s pronounced as jiff in case anyone was wondering.
It’s definitely not a pipe
No, it’s your display you are looking at
maybe a pebble. need banana for scale
could even be a boulder
Macrosand
you mean gravel?
The last exchange I read around the “banana for scale” thing was inconceivably contentious.
Where’s the NSFW flair on this baby boy?
No that’s obviously a tiny boulder
The pioneers used the ride these babies for miles.
Ride them for mules?
Tiny boulders do not exist. you have obviously never seen a large boulder the size of a small boulder
Bite-sized mountain
I don’t think I want to bite that.
Is it? Could be a pebble. We don’t have a scale after all.
You’re just like Hitler, blocked.
Did I hear an rock and stone?
That’s not a rock. That’s a picture of a rock.
No, that’s a jpeg representation on your screen of a photo of a rock.
It’s a jpeg representation on your screen of a photo of a rock which you probably have observed with your eyes
I haven’t seen this particular rock with my own eyes.
Ce n’est pas un rocher
“Ceci” si tu veux être précis
I was looking for this :)
To further the spirit of the topic:
picture: An individual painting, drawing, or other representation on a surface, of an object or objects; esp. such a representation as a work of art. (Now the prevailing sense.)
image: An optical appearance or counterpart of an object, such as is produced by rays of light either reflected as from a mirror, refracted as through a lens, or falling on a surface after passing through a small aperture. Such an appearance may also be a mere subjective impression on the sense of sight, as an after-image (q.v.), and the negative image or accidental image seen after looking intently at a bright-coloured object, and having a colour complementary to that of the object. An image produced by reflexion or refraction is called in Optics a real image when the rays from each point of the object actually meet at a point, a virtual image when they diverge as if from a point beyond the reflecting or refracting body.

I’m here to put the F back in Art
That’s not my dad, that’s a cell phone. Duh!
It’s a MINERAL, Marie.
