  • I originally switched bc I had a Surface Pro and Wayland has better support for touch screens. There’s also less security issues with Wayland (because of X’s network protocol system) if thats a major concern for you. Its being more actively developed than X, and I personally found it to be very stable and don’t see any reason to switch. I do have an AMD card so mileage will vary if you use Nvidia. I heard it’s not as good for games, but I haven’t had any problems with it, and things like Teams and screen sharing not really working are not a big priority for me because I dual boot Windows for work and “big” games. I have had some trouble with scaling in the past, everything works fine now but it’s a bit harder than X.

    Also it’s pretty easy to switch between an X and Wayland session so you can easily compare things for your own use case.
