Yeah, the over/under was in March.

Amazing that the thing setting Musk over the deep end was doggedly stanning Rand Paul. Of all the people to be ride or die for…

My first thought: This is theater. My second thought: Doesn’t change a thing. Fuck em both before, fuck em both now. Focus on the fascist govt giving all of our data to Palantir so that they can create a database to track all US residents and deport whoever they want whenever they want wherever they want.

This reminds me so much of John Mulaney’s joke about a Trump vs Kim Jong Un fued that eventually leads up to nuclear war after Trump goads him into it by saying “You know what, I want you to do it.”

Part of me knows this has almost certainly got to be a distraction, but maybe not? Even if it is, just dear god I am just seriously flooded at reality rn. Surely they jumped the shark. Where does this administration even go from here…?

Doesn’t Elon have access to the nuclear codes?

If they were smart or even lucid we could be sure it’s theater. But Trump is starting to freeze like Mitch and all the money in the world can’t undo the side effects of Elon being a stereotypical rich drug addict. Assuming these are rational actors is a poor choice.

I mean, distraction from what? This is a melt down over a Must Pass budget bill that’s going to potentially reshape the global economy. Elon’s angry because his friends at the fringe of the US Senate are only getting most of what they want.

Trillions of dollars, hundreds of thousands of employees, and whole administrative departments are hanging in the balance. Nevermind the fate of the US space program and the telecomm industry. Plus the next round of funding for both Israel and Ukraine.

What else is there to be distracted from? The ability for these two assholes to agree on something is the hinge point on the next decade of history, easy.

      No… absolutely not!

He also lacks the authority to give a single order to anyone in the military. So he could never use the codes. And luckily, between this doge debacle and his not being born in the US, I’m confident in saying he’ll never be president.

I mean, from a business perspective, yeah. Between crew and cargo flights, NASA’s purchasing over 80% of Dragon flights. You have a product that looses 80% of its customers, it’s hard to keep afloat.

It’d be funny if it weren’t for the stakes involved.

If Trump nationalized it out of petty vindictiveness I wouldn’t criticize him for that. I’d still criticize literally everything else, but even a broken clock can be right twice a day and maybe this could be Trump’s moment to be right by accident.

Without Musk, SpaceX could be great. The Falcon 9 platform and building rockets in America has been great. It’s Starship that is a steaming pile of shit.
