      Spectacled is a great guess with how well defined that face is, but Specky has yellow eyes and is much more solid in color scheme.

      This is an equally awesome owl though. I don’t know if we’ve ever had one on this community before, which is a big reason I’m glad this poster is here! This is an African Wood Owl, and this specific subspecies should be Woodford’s Owl.

        Wow amazing I have never heard of this species of owl before! He is a very handsome fellow, and tbh would fit the ‘spectacled owl’ name rather well. He looks deep in thought does he not. Lovely plumage on the breast in particular imo. 🦉

          To my recollection, we’ve looked at the Asiatic wood owls, the Mottled and Spotted, but there’s a few African subspecies ones and a few Brown ones in Asia.

          This one looks like a Barred Owl with a candy corn color scheme. Like a limited Thanksgiving edition! 😁
