I guess they had the best 90s colors if you just wanted random sports clothes.

My sister in DC spent so much money on a Charlotte Hornets Starter Jacket.

    It was her prized possession.

I am confident she has never watched a Hornets game in her life.

Same with Might Ducks gear but they didn’t have an official/professional team. Tbh, the mascots for The Hornets and Might Ducks went hard, that hornet looked mad af haha

I grew up in Ohio in the 90’s and everyone was wearing Hornets or Chicago Bulls gear (head to toe) and Might Ducks hats/shirts.

Yes and realistically the Hornets were because the teal/purple combo went super hard in the 90s especially in the form of outerwear.

Oh shit! Totally forgot about the San Jose Sharks. Ohio was big into Chicago culture at the time so things from LA or NYC (respectfully) wasn’t seen too often and it was always the “black sheep” of the league that went against the norms of mid-west culture.

Avg mid-western: “San Jose Sharks…ohhh sounds Spanish”

I don’t think you meant it that way but it looks funny that you gave the average mid-westerner comment while also mentioning LA in response to San Jose.

Just for any actual avg midwesterners, San Jose is the same distance from LA as Chicago is from Cleveland. Or Indianapolis is from Pittsburg.

Also grew up in Ohio in the 90’s, I had two winter coats Ducks and Bulls. Hats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts were all OSU.

This is so crazy. I was a kid in the 90s and got a Charlotte Hornets coat for some reason as a gift. Never even watched a basketball game.

Oh damn, I had wiped this from my memory. But yeah, I used to have a Hornets hat in the 90s despite not being a basketball fan.

That was a big factor. Nobody could steal the ball from him, they couldn’t reach that low, and his fakeouts were legendary. I didn’t follow the sport at all, but was glad to have to Hornets as my nearby team. Watching him go up against giants was so fun.

They had the flyest colour scheme. The Orlando magic was also a popular one, but that was because it was the birth of Shaq craze. I had the shaq attack toys and the shaq fu video game

This was especially true of women. They loved the color scheme. Nearly every woman I knew growing up were Hornets fans if they didn’t follow basketball.

Note: I’m saying the colors were popular with women, not that you’re a woman if you liked the colors.

I was a teenager in France and even there some kids had Hornets jackets. No one questioned it.

That explains the Charlotte Hornets jacket my parents had.

I thought it was because they went to grad school there but you’re right, that was the style of the time.
