Well, let me tell you something Google, that wallet thing is so very much going to stay 1000% empty dry thank you! Lol I hope you guys stay super excited about that monthly service bill cuz I not giving my kid money to buy anything online. And if I want them up there I’ll put them right there LOL!

        Back in MY day we used up all of our phone plan money because we accidentally clicked on that stupid browser icon and loaded a website for half a second. Oh the terror

      When bus cards first came out you could buy things from the dairy with them. Adults quickly realised how stupid that idea. I had friends who spent the entire months bus money on snacks after school then walked 2 hours to get home. They didn’t even complain, it was a good trade in their mind.

        Im not sure if this is an option everywhere, but in my country you can add your phone provider to google play as mentioned

        So if you had nicer parents that topped your plan off for one of the more expensive plans what you could do was get a cheaper one, and spend the leftover on in-game purchases or whatever through google play :3… phone plans were also how all the illegal irl item trades in mmos were done ^^

      Also parental controls are ass. Yes you can block (most) pornography but you can’t tell a social media app to not blast a teenager with misinformation. It’s like a playground but with glass shards everywhere. You can forbid the kid from playing there altogether but they’d feel excluded while all their friends are having fun. Somehow there doesn’t seem to be an option to remove the fucking shards though.

    It’s likely in your best interest to move away from Gmail, if not immediately then over some period of time (e.g. start new email signups with other address, gradually move over existing ones, etc.)

      I still get the value cards when buying games to make them “worth a walk”. But when i have leftover card money i try to spend it on games where friends invite me or my wishlist.
      Then play them at least for 20 minutes so i dont have a lot of unplayed games

    This would be interesting if you could control daily and weekly spending limits or have authorized retailers in-app, but you can’t.

    This doesn’t actually solve a problem for users.

      Doggie wallet! You give your pet a monthly Google allowance to spend on Google, and then watch how happy he is to spend it on fortnight and rowblox.

      But that may not be as viable today.

      There are already several transit systems that have converted to cashless systems. There is also a push to some stores to cashless as well.

      Cash may be a superior way for kids to handle money, but I can see some areas where having cash isn’t viable.

      If I was a parent, I would want the wallet to act as a debit only system. However, I could see the utility in giving my kid a debit like system with $10 on it.
