Summary

Trump recently shared a provocative column on Truth Social titled “Shut Up About Egg Prices — Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions,” written by conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

This comes despite Trump’s campaign promises to reduce grocery costs “immediately” and “on Day 1.” Egg prices have soared to record highs, averaging $4.95/dozen in January and exceeding $10/dozen in some regions, leading to purchase limits and shortages.

While bird flu has significantly impacted prices by killing millions of chickens since 2022, Trump has shifted from his campaign stance, recently telling Fox News “Inflation is back” but claiming “I had nothing to do with it” after just weeks in office.

They will blame it on the democrats even if the problem persists for the next 2 years, and no matter what bullshit deregulation on price gouging AND sanitation/health inspection being gutted that accellerates the spread of disease, it is ALWAYS the democrat’s fault.

We know what the problem is, but I have no idea what the solution would be.

Multiple economists overwhelmingly stated that his policy proposals were inflationary. MAGA accused them of being “liberals” and disregarded their warnings as fake. Working people aren’t going to be saving anything unless it’s by a sheer cut back in their spending as they try to save money. And of course saving won’t matter if Trump axes FDIC.

This shit is just getting too surreal. Democrats were literally not allowed to quote actual economic progress without being called “out of touch” but Trump can literally say “fuck you shut up.”

Yeah. It’s one of the great mysteries of conservative politics IMO.

They just magically get to be “better economic managers” despite any facts to the contrary.

A relevant quote from Jean-Paul Sartre:

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

Reactionaries continue this. If you are a liberal, they will take advantage of your values, pretending they deserve that universal respect.

The left would rather see Trump fail than to have America succeed.

The left are out destroying Tesla’s and their dealerships and bombing Trump hotels, but use Jan 6th as a scapegoat when challenged.

If the Left can’t have it their way, they would rather have everyone fail. A bunch of spoiled brats throwing a tantrum when they can’t have drag queen story hour and transwomen in women’s restrooms.

The problem with the economic message from Biden and Harris was they celebrated like they had solved the economy. But the average family was still struggling. If they had said something like, “We are happy to see the economy land without a recession; That is a victory we have all achieved, and now we can do the same thing for the working class, etc etc” it wouldn’t have been such a bloodbath every time they took a victory lap on the stock market line and current year inflation.

You know what is amusing - I bet the redcaps still drinking the little d kool-aid will do ANYTHING to stop talking about egg prices at this point.

I bet they start accusing State Media, oops, I mean, Faux “News”, of being too “liberal” for talking about the cost of eggs - or really, the price of anything else. Same goes for talking about the Dow, the S&P 500, NASDAQ, TSLA after a bad day…

Dems can beat this man if they choose to stand for something and stop letting these Nazi’s move their own goalpost 24/7. Use these 4 years to build and get serious about systematic change. There isn’t going to be some sweeping redemption for Trump voters where they realize the errors of their ways.

Dems could have beaten him every time. They didn’t.

Dems are not a reliable solution to this problem, and nor is the broken federal electoral system in general. You cannot vote your way out of this mess. Republicans will continue to suppress the vote of people they don’t like. The owning class have purchased the newspapers, television stations and social media platforms. It’s a rigged game.

Organize in your communities if you want any real power.

Overall, prices for food-at-home rose by 0.8 percent between December 2024 and January 2025. This was partially an effect of seasonal trends, since prices typically increase in January following the holiday season. From December 2024 to January 2025, prices increased for 11 food-at-home categories and declined for 4 categories. In 2025, prices are predicted to grow at above-average rates for eggs, sugar and sweets, nonalcoholic beverages, and fresh fruits, while dairy products are expected to grow at near-average rates. Prices for 10 other food-at-home categories are predicted to change at a rate below their 20-year historical average.

When it’s never been about that, it has mainly been about fulfilling the crooked policies he wanted to do and is currently doing. Keep eating them high costs, you stupid fucks. And you’ll still justify your reasoning for having voted for this guy because it’s voter’s remorse at this point.

It’s one of the reasons I’m glad my grandma is dead.

She was a devout catholic for her whole life, even winning awards for her service to the church.

When the pope condemned Trump’s border policies in his first term, she had the audacity to say, “The pope needs to mind his own business.”

I would have hated to be around her in 2020 onwards. She would have been a Nazi even though my grandfather was Jewish.

The point that they’re making is that it’s a never-ending process to be aware of and guard against, and those who think that they’ve accomplished being “not racist” are often people who actively are racist and don’t see it. Think the liberal speaking over people about their own wants and needs.

I was watching some jubilee youtube content (do not recommend) but the number one thing i have to say about conservatives is they suffer from some crazy form of indignation. Like, these were recorded pre-election and one guy was outright furious that kamala was campaigning as if project 2025 was trumps plan. Never mind it’s plain to see that would be their plan. Never mind that is exactly what we are seeing today. This same guy, if I stopped him on the street today would be mad about something entirely different and never even take a second to recognize how massively wrong he was. Jus’ out there being indignant about some other meaningless gop grievance.

I believe the Conservative Party has been moving toward this moment for decades, with or without Trump. He’s just a great tool for them.

“I will immediately bring prices down starting on Day 1,” he said on Aug. 15, for example. “Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down,” he promised later that same month.

He backed away from that last month.

Everything’s normal. This is what you voted for, Murca!

ETA For those following these comments:

Hanlon’s razor is an adage or rule of thumb that states: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Given the track record of those in the current ruling class of Murca, I agree with those comments which suggest we can exchange the placement of “malice” and “stupidity”.

Krasnov just DGAF about the plebs who voted for him, at best. At worst, he’s actively destroying the economy, democracy, and the plebs he lied to.

I vote blue not because I need to, but because I think it’s best for my peers and because I love my friends. At the end of the day though, I’m laughing at every price increase because if it gets to the point that I can’t afford food, there’s going to be about 250 million starving Americans in front of me pushing for change.
