The headline makes it sound like she just discovered that he’s actually a swarm of locusts in a trenchcoat or something. I mean, that would explain a lot, but still

If his wife wasn’t a state senator; I would not think the following. However, something is smelling foul here…

Ken Paxton nearly gets removed from office by the GOP dominated state legislature and barely comes out victorious against them. What does Paxton do? Run a canpaign for US senate against John Cornyn to primary him and paint him as a “RINO”, like he did against many that voted for his impeachment. Who is polling higher right now? PAXTON.

What happens if Paxton wins the primary against Cornyn? Texas becomes a COMPETATIVE STATE for the 2026 midterms. So how can the Texas GOP completely kneecap Paxton’s popularity with republican voters? Oh, just convince his wife to divorce him to try to tank his campaign. Paint him as an “anti-christian” to convince the christians.

So what I’m saying is that this is a Texas GOP lead conspiracy to try to tank Ken Paxton’s senate primary bid. As him becoming the nominee would put control of the US senate in play (potentially).

Or he could be a misogynistic twat who believes women are property and would strangle his kids of they were lgbt+. It could be that too.

It is infinitely more likely that the stress of the campaign trail, opportunities to cheat, and competing demands of their separate ambitions would bring a couple to the brink of divorce than… this suggestion.

I don’t understand why Texas would become competitive.

I think they are implying that the far-right Paxton would mobilize left-wing voters more than the not-quite-so-far-right Cornyn.

“Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds,” Angela Paxton posted on X. “I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.

“I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose,” she wrote.

    God says no divorces…

Henry the 8th was the one that said divorces were cool with God, probably because it was starting to look bad how many wives he was executing

      God said no such thing.

The Roman Catholic Popes and cardinals are the ones who said “no divorce.”

When Moses wrote down the law, the rule was was “ok, divorce if you must.”

According to the Gospels, Jesus (God) appropriately said “divorce is bad, and leaving your wife for a younger model is just adultery with extra steps.”

      (Matthew 19, the aforementioned gospel.)

(A Texas pastor opining on the topic. A bit too anti-sex for my taste, but a fair sample of Texas conservative Christendom.)

Technically annulled, but you were still way closer than I was going off memory:

Possibly pressured somewhat by Catherine’s nephew, the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, the Pope refused. In response the king assumed supremacy over religious matters and turned his back on the Catholic Church.

Henry’s marriage to Catherine was eventually annulled on 1533 and Catherine was banished from court as Dowager Princess of Wales. She lived out the rest of her days at Kimbolton Castle in Cambridgeshire where she died in 1536. Her daughter Mary was forbidden for visiting her or to attending her funeral at Peterborough Cathedral.
