This makes for a relatively toxic-free experience, few soapboxes, but still a big diversity of posts and topics come in.

Keywords go in and out when I’m fatigued by US politics or the same headlines about the same people over and over.

For users, I find it weird that many Lemmy users are obsessed with their enemies or the things they disagree with, so user blocks get dished out when I see people behaving that way too. Doesn’t matter what the topic is they’re “discussing”.

You can’t have no stance on social constructs you’ve been introduced to. The moment it’s existence has been made aware to you by other people, you now have a stance, even if that’s to dissociate from it. “Not political” doesn’t clearly say anything, but I’m inclined to think they don’t like hearing the stance of other’s—what political discourse is—implying they may actually have a very strong and unwavering stance but they don’t recognise it.

It’s easier for me if you just Google epidemiological and immunological reviews yourself.

Part of going to a breeder is they are able to show you the family tree and advise on what dogs have been bred in or bred out and why.

I talk to mine once a year because they call up to check in on the doggos. They also have group chats for each litter.

That’s kind of like dog breeding 101; keeping an eye on the litters so they can identify good and bad traits, shaping future litters around that. So, I’m able to tell them what traits, personality, and fitness I’m needing in my next dog, and they are able to tell me when they’re next planning a litter from dogs like that, or refer me to another good breeder.

If you’re not needing to do any of this and are just after a pet doggo, then there’s really not much point of going to a breeder. And if a breeder isn’t like this, they’re likely just in it for quick money and you and the dogs suffer. Unfortunately there’s quite a lot of “puppy farm” fuckheads out there.

There’s kind of been an increase in things being more accessible and usable by the standard user where previously they would need to be quite savvy or know a language.

I think smartphones are an excellent example. Most people wouldn’t notice the differences between a second-hand $150 Samsung Galaxy from five years ago, and the latest flagship for 10× the price. The innovation is almost entirely unnoticeable.

Everything you touch is “unsanitary as all hell”. Like, you think whatever’s on tokens stops there and isn’t on the machine you’re playing, the door handle you’re turning, the counter you’re touching? In the last hour you’ve handled shit way worse and you’ll handle much more of it before the day’s over.

There’s gotta be a name for the look where a physically unfit/poor performing American tries to offset this by donning physically “tough” fashion accessories and hair dos.

I know there’s gravy seals, but they kind of take it to the next level.

This, it’s more like a defence mechanism. Like they’d totally get their ass kicked in literally anything—fighting, jogging, getting up out of a chair—but they keep themselves safe by dressing up and casting tough stares.
