The only game I am having issues with is fallout london. For some reason, even with a dlss upscaler mod, it runs at half the fps that it does on my windows :(

Most useful things i found in wsl that made it not feel like a vm is knowing the wslpath command, and the fact that it can execute any exe such as explorer.exe (which works for even wsl directories). those two things let you use sed/grep/awk on files in windows and execute any exe on stuff in linux.
My hope is that it wouldn’t be as bad as one might think. Dense living arrangements are more profitable for cities and local businesses and can allow cities to focus on infrastructure improvement and welfare. A problem with the megabuildings could be if they are solely owned by megacorps, but hopefully people will start looking into housing cooperatives to reduce costs and put more power in the hands of tenants. It doesn’t have to be like we only build skyscrapers either, but imo we need to have more of a gradient in terms of building height depending on distance to the city center; different apartment building heights have their own benefits. This is just my dream, though.
I usually run the installers in bottles if it is a repack, then you can add the installed program to steam and make it look nice with steamgriddb. bottles lets you run just exe as well. if you name the game in steam to the steam id #, you can even get the official and community controller layouts
Just curious how you came up with 7%? I was always taught to expect the yearly return to be 4%
if you aren’t in your commute for 45 minutes, have you considered keeping an electric mug warmer at your desk? It usually doesn’t take up much space and it needs a small plug in
Star Wars Republic Commando! Every now and then people talk about it, but it is a shame it isn’t mentioned more. I actually just replayed it, I’d almost say it holds up today with the remaster mod and the rc patch. There is also a very cool mod called “slightly remastered” which adds stuff like 3rd person scripted animations and scripted kill cams, it makes you feel like a badass! Aside from that, I’m also surprised nobody in the boomer shooter enjoyer crowd talks about Cube 2: Sauerbraten, which is a very fast paced arena shooter. The only server that is consistently active uses one shot rifles that have enough recoil to do trick jumps, very fun to hop on for a few hours
I’d love to see star wars republic commando as well as the Jedi knight series!
I just saw this in a post today about manjaro, it seems like endeavor is the better choice if you are concerned about stability in the long term: https://manjarno.pages.dev/
