Like, I can only shoot two portals ever? Single-use would imply only being able to shoot one portal, but that doesn’t seem very useful.

Also wasn’t portal travel hella toxic? To the point that it killed Cave Johnson? I sure as hell won’t be using it to save time on my commute or anything.

I think I’d have to use it for violence, like sending a war criminal off a large building, but you couldn’t even really have fun with it. Everyone fantasizes about launching a billionaire straight into space, but you’d need multiple portals to get them into a situation where they’re building momentum first.

Also, if there’s no material emancipation grids, are the portals just there forever? The portal gun doesn’t have an off switch or a way to deactivate existing portals.

People are gonna keep beating the dead horse but you’re right. 50% of Americans are reading at or below a sixth grade level. 30% are functionally illiterate. Trying to rely on those people knowing what fascism is was a losing move. Expecting any of these people to think critically about the media they consume is a non-starter.

You can make an argument for it mattering in the first film as well, but that starts examining the film from a lense of Ash, Weyland Yutani, and the Xenomorph being metaphors for the patriarchy.

I mean, the electorate is definitely unqualified to pick their own leaders, but that’s what decades of gutting education funding with absolutely no public pushback gets you. An unqualified electorate elects unqualified representatives.

The problem I have is that my office has a dress code policy from the '80s, so I’m wearing nice shirts every day I go to work. Now, it’s become my “work attire” so my brain doesn’t want to put it on for dates, because who would want their date to arrive in work clothes?

So far, my solution has just been to girlmode my dates, but I do wonder what my future partner will think when they realize I don’t actually wear mesh tops and skirts all that frequently, and I have a small Men’s Warehouse in my closet.

I’ll echo what another commenter mentioned, I would want the community to be focused on practitioners helping other practitioners, and less just a “witch-y culture vibe” place. It might be a little weird, depending on how wide the net is and how many different belief systems show up, but I think a book club could be a good idea! Might help in attracting the right eyeballs to the community quickly, at the very least.

It’s so weird that I feel nothing. I remember being elated when Borderlands 2 was announced, and I was really excited for Borderlands 3. After BL3, the New Tales from the Borderlands, and the Borderlands movie? I don’t wanna touch this franchise with a 12 foot pole.
