  • Not great! What was supposed to be a regular biweekly update with my team lead turned into me hearing I’m being let go. The company is dissolving my position. Apparently because they believe everything I did to set up data pipelines and structures is so solid they just need someone to maintain it now (which will be a third party).

I definitely saw myself working there for a few years, now I’m back to looking for a job after just 1 year. Feels unfair and all the ‘it’s not personal, we love you as a colleague’ is definitely not helping at all.

At least I won’t have to come out to them which I was dreading… I’ll just introduce myself with new pronouns at the next job ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Back to the LinkedIn hellscape it is

Edit: forgot to mention that the worst part of this to me is definitely this week where we’re still discussing details/severance etc. and I can’t tell my direct colleagues yet. So here I am pretending everything is fine and I’m not actually super depressed about it until I can finally tell them next Tuesday.

  • Just came back from my parents to cuddle our family dog one last time before she’ll be euthanised this Friday. It was rough. I love her so much and she’s been there for such an essential part of my life (12-27). I’m going to miss her so much. I’m happy she got to have a long and happy life, but I’m also glad she won’t have to live in pain anymore - her back joints are completely worn out. Combined with the reduced vision and hearing and incontinence, I’m sure it’s her time to go. It’s just hard :(

I remember having to unsub from r/dogpictures back when I was on reddit because 80% was just pics of ‘this is my dog who just died’ - it’s just too much. So I won’t do the same to you by posting pics here, but anyone who wants a cute doggo pic is welcome to dm me 🐕

  • I bought a little olive tree to put on my balcony. I nearly bought it during winter but I convinced myself to wait for it to get a little warmer. Just have to get some potting soil and a larger pot and it should hopefully do well? I saw my downstairs neighbours have one that’s thriving so the climate should be ok :)

I guess I have a question: do plants really need different soil types? The little card that came with the tree says it requires special Mediterranean soil, but that sounds kinda fake to me tbh.
