  • Pay cards are pretty popular among a lot of employers.

I know I read a ProPublica article about how fucked they are a while back, but both DDG and Google don’t seem interested in helping me find it…

But yeah, a lot of big retail/fast food places will pressure you into taking your pay as a pay card. These pay cards usually charge you for things like checking your balance or using an ATM.

  • It’s really amazing how expensive being poor is.

I pay interest on my credit card loans, I pay late fees on things like electricity and my internet. The interest and late fees and all that other shit would be enough to start saving up for home.

Gas station food and energy drinks are expensive as shit, but sometimes when you are working two jobs you just want a fucking slice of pizza and enough caffeine to make it through the next shift.

I can at least manage my apartment, and can pick up a third job once school starts up again - but being in these places where I see people who are poorer than me and lack the ability to understand how to navigate the world - who don’t have a college education/the ability to read/the ability to speak English - what kind of sick and evil world is this?

  • Don’t forget r/picsofdeadkids and r/beautifulcorpses

R/rape was a place for rape porn for the longest time. Posting to Reddit for advice coping with sexual assault is 100% a bad idea, as you will mostly get DM’s and chat requests from people who want to get off to your trauma. I believe the moderators of those “support” communities also get off on it too.

There are still currently beastiality subreddits and r/guro. The beastiality subreddits post simulated images/hentai, but the discussions include advice on how to participate.

People tried to defend r/jailbait by saying it was girls close to 18. (Uh akshually it’s ephebophilia 🤡) It was not. It was mostly 13-14 year olds or younger. Actual pornographic images weren’t posted there, but it was clear that the admin team and others were running trading rings.

Didn’t Reddit even ban Gawker links for a while for doxxing Micheal Brutsch? Redditors always fell over themselves to defend all of this shit as “free speech.” R/ShitRedditSays was considered worse than any of these subreddits.

They have been covering up child sexual abuse for decades. Making children face their abuser, destroying records, not cooperating with the police…

They discourage their members from going to college or seriously pursuing a career. They practice disfellowshipping and shunning, where you lose your entire social circle if you leave or even do something as minor as be known to have watched porn. They trap people essentially - you work a low wage job like cleaning windows because you aren’t supposed to pursue higher education, you are expected to provide free labor for their real estate scheme, and also the hours and hours of free labor going door to door.

They let their children die rather than have blood transfusions. Hospitals and doctors have had to come up with ridiculous “bloodless surgeries” to keep these people alive, because they read a single verse in the Bible flat out incorrectly.

JW’s are a cult. The proselytizing doesn’t convert anyone, the purpose is to have the members routinely rejected to convince them of the evils of society. There is nothing good about the organization; there are certainly individual JW’s who are good people, but it’s a fucking cult.

  • There are a few. One down the block from me collaborates with the LGBT youth shelter and has progress flags.

Methodists tend to be nice - the couple of times I got to go to a support group for LGBT teens was at a Methodist church, and this was almost twenty years ago. Unitarian Universalists are basically atheists, pagans and hippies that like the structure of meeting together on Sundays. Quakers have always been very politically active, mostly on the correct side of things.

The Southern Baptist Convention has basically been running our politics for decades. Literally founded to support slavery, created the “pro life”/forced birth movement from whole cloth, and fought integration and civil rights tooth and nail.
