Treating it anthropomorphically is a sign of respect, similar to how a sailor would bond with their ship. It’s not necessarily BAD or dumber or wrong to talk with it like its human - that’s clearly what every single interface is telling you to do by representing it like a texting partner. You can’t interact with a machine that speaks english non-anthropomorphically.

Nobody needs 15 recommendations. You’d be lucky if someone looked up one. 15 is filler; nobody has 15 books worth of opinion on the prospective literary qualities of summer 2025 AD. An absolute minority would have read all 15 were they real. The piece did its job well enough to get published, make the author $35, and make me feel vaguely ‘summer beach book escapism’ from reading the descriptions, which is the point of the piece anyway.

that was the worst fucking thing i’ve seen on tv in my life. holy shit that was depressing. yet it feels incredibly vindicating seeing every single media outlet openly say ‘that was a disaster, he should probably be out’. that was an absolute failure. rescheduling the debate would look better than that shit.

i remember growing up I’d literally get a buzz off a good thread or from reeling off a good post. it felt so incredible being able to communicate with people across the world and be taken seriously, evaluated on the merits of my words rather than dismissed due to age or race or anything. and most of all, it felt like this special secret between you and other dorks. now everyone has phones in their pocket. going on twitter is like going to mcdonals.

i hate that we all got so frightened about math. it’s genuinely fun to learn how it works when you’re not being forced to in a school setting, which was just a fucking nightmare for no reason. i had this former navy DI lady teacher in gifted kid algebra [so already a year ahead] yell at me for asking questions; she wasn’t going to ‘hold my hand’ thru the homework, which was quite literally her fucking job
