In what world is suggesting one army should attack another army not a “call to violence”?
Your rulings are just complete nonsense. There’s no consistency. You’re just applying it based on your own whims. One of which seems, based on how you’re applying it, to be “genocide is ok when it’s done to brown people”.
So is saying “Ukrainian should beat the Russian army” “removable”, then?
Speaking of Russian propaganda, is saying “Russian soldiers invading Ukraine should be killed” also bannable?
anyone should be killing anyone else
Or, apparently, causing property damage 🤦♂️
But we’re not talking about killing people. We’re talking about killing an organisation. If someone had said “death to Apple”, that is not the same as “death to Tim Cook and all his employees”.
Wait, you can’t even say a group should be eliminated? Not even people, but a group‽
Is “defund the police” also a bannable offence now?
So I take it then, that any comment even vaguely in support of Israel will be removed as against the TOS? Because surely advocating in favour of genocide, even indirectly, is far worse than criticising the organisation actually committing that genocide?
Don’t get paid for donating in Aus.
Not to mention the 3500 Valian years (i.e. 35,000 normal years) that passed after the creation of Arda but before the years of the trees.
Where does it get Dracula was 412 from? The book never gives a specific age. If we go by Vlad III, 412 years from his birth would place the book in 1843. The book is actually most likely set in 1893 (based on how dates line up), and definitely in the 1890s.
Running shirts tend to be made of nylon or polyester. Unfortunately I tend to hang on to my clothes a very long time so all the tags are worn away and I can’t check, but I’m pretty sure all my running shirts are one of those.
Cotton is particularly bad because it chafes and it hangs on to sweat rather than wicking it away.
Of natural fibres, you probably want wool. I’ve particularly heard good things about merino wool. But avoid cotton for running.
Fair point, actually. Not sure whether a screen reader would read the image description or Community first on the Lemmy homepage.
Fuck that is an awesome design.
Shame it (a) appears to be cotton (not the material I want to be running in), and (b) is sold out.
Happy cake day!
They didn’t even do the most basic of work to attempt to put forward a front of journalistic integrity. They didn’t give Vylan a chance to respond to the article.
I would amend that slightly to
The wizard’s face has been replaced by that of Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space 9
To be more specific about precisely who it is so it’s clear from the caption that this is a Star Trek reference. (I’m not sure just the name “Sisko” is good enough.)
Or alternatively, I would change it in precisely the opposite way and describe him as being “a black man with a goatee”, to describe just the visual inputs that a sighted person would experience when looking at the image, and let the reader infer who it is the same way a sighted person would.
But I definitely prefer the more specific option.
This post was actually made significantly better for me by the fact that the thumbnail did not appear. So I read the title entirely, and saw what community it was in, before seeing the image. I knew half of what I was about to get (Sisko in the Pondering My Orb meme), but the baseball was unexpected and actually made me snort out loud.
No, you can’t move the existing account. But I think you can export your settings, including subscribed communities.
It might be a good idea to add a description to your lemm.ee account saying what your new account is, kinda like a forwarding address, because people will still be able to view your old account from their instances.
Better article including video of the assault and description of the police’s woeful response to it.
But that video basically tells you straight-out… the usual campaign strategies are clearly wrong. You put out a campaign that gets people excited and suddenly way more people get out to vote. It’s not a complicated theory. It clearly works in practice.
All of this conversation though, just shows how fucking poor democracy based around voter turnout is. Put elections on a weekend or make it a public holiday, and make voting mandatory (with the option of a blank ballot for those who really object to voting). It doesn’t solve all your problems. But it sure does help a lot.
