Sometimes it feels like the same script being deployed again and again. The “left”, which is really “center-right” spreads “freedom” and generates refugees en mass in the process, then the hard right rises to refuse those refugees created. It’s an endless loop with only bomb makers getting rich and everyone else suffers.

Indeed, American people, US government, multi-continent corporations… are different entities for sure.

I don’t disagree, there was a time the objective of the policy was understandable. Then the big corporations came in and everything went down hill fast. smh

US is actually a large fossil fuel exporter. i.e., it’s less about energy independence, more about corporate profit.

We are also making renewable energy at 1/3 of the rate of China.

I am absolutely not in favor of shutting down all social media platform.

Look at how our maim stream media censoring news coming out of Gaza, it’s hard to imagine the current level of outrage against the genocide being generated without tiktok and Instagram.

They now serve an important function and that is vital.

What social media platform isn’t a security risk? Goggle knows everyone down to a T, and Meta’s platform has been used overseas for pretty awful things. The US government has not find any instances of information being systematically stolen by TT and send to Chinese government.

Being concerned is good, being concerned only about tiktok and without actual evidence is leaning into unsavory racial bias.

Again, shore up data security laws, enforce data security laws, don’t play on racial fear and trample 1st amendment.

I would remind people:

Tiktok is the only major social media platform that doesn’t demand a phone number to register or verify identity.

It is also the only social media platform that isn’t controlled by Meta or Google (reddit is now effectively in bed with Google).

Establishing and enforcing industry wide data security is a good thing, killing the only somewhat independent social media platform is a dictatorship style move.

Weird title. BiBi and Israel is the same thing when it comes to the Gaza genocide.

I fail to see the benefit of saying blatant lies. Exactly what does Bibi think he can gain by doing this if his government keeps being debunked for more and more of its false statements?

This man really is dragging everything and everyone down for his own political power.

No question the world is struggling with 9 billion people, and developed world is using excessive amount of resources.

The rigid definition of “countries” may stand in the way of a more collaborative world though.
