ObsidianMD@lemmy.world•I clip and collect and annotate so much that it's basically a job that is gradually losing it's value as my passive collection ramps up.
0·6 days agoYeah at some point you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it. If you aren’t referring to it then it becomes questionable.
I recently declared pkm bankruptcy and deleted nearly 20 years of notes. It wasn’t easy. But it’s been glorious since and I don’t miss it a bit.
One of my reasons was even when I knew how to do something, I was looking it up again anyway in case things get outdated. So I realized storing source material in any real way wasn’t useful to me. Thousands of quotes and notes about videos watched… I realized I never once went back to any of them.
Now my vaults are small and tidy and only really contain active notes and canvasses.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•U.S. consumers are so fucked up, that they put more than $1 billion on buy-now, pay later services during Cyber Monday
3·6 days agoIt used to be but it looks like interest is becoming a big deal. Guess people are missing payments.

Yep, they just became an active user metric
I used to have hundreds of zebras in service running off redhat. This was about 12 years ago and so I’m sure it’s fine now.

3·10 days agoOpenssl can do everything.
That’s right, but instead of the word derived we use “issued”
Correct certs get old by design, they can also be revoked. As another commenter mentioned the biggest pain is actually in the redistribution of these end certificates. In enterprise this is all managed usually with the same software they use for deployment or have auto enrollment configured.
You should find tons of guides just take it slow to understand it all. Understanding certificates in depth is a rare and good skill to have. Most sysadmins I come across are scared to death of certificates.
I do too. For some reason people usually run away.

16·11 days agoNo, because it’s no longer dangerous if it’s trusted.
You give your friends your public root and if applicable, intermediary certs. They install them and they now trust any certs issued by your CA.
Source: I regularly build and deploy CA’s in corps
Connect is great, extensive filtering available. I use it as my main and jerboa as backup.

It might have been my problem somehow but troubleshooting a new game is not something I’m willing to spend my time on.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•If every video game was to be destroyed but you had the chance to save five games, what would you choose to save?
2·19 days agoYeah I think all but the first couple of runs were megabases in the end. LTN for train management was critical for me.

1·19 days agoOh the why is probably autism. I enjoy complex simulations. At the time I thought angels and bobs was the most complex. Actually it often wasn’t enough for me and I’d include some other overhaul mods like yuokai at the same time.
I’ve also been playing since before factorio was on steam, so my plays are spread out
The cultural indoctrination of industrialization and helping capitalists being a good thing that good citizens do I’m sure had something to do with it.

2·20 days agoI’ve done about 6 or 7 bobs and angels runs (all mods) over the years. It’s elementary school compared to pyanodons.
It’s that much longer due to the complexity and depth of the supply chains. And there is very often many different ways to make the same thing, all with different byproducts to deal with.
