Yes. I think what makes these apps appealing is that 1) they can be used unplanned and your time in them doesnt have to be structured, and 2) they can fill up an arbitrarily long or short amount of time.
I had to move to a country with a more introverted culture than the one I grew up in (not the US), and I’ve struggled finding friends to spend my free time with so far, so I spend it on apps :-( They really are just a last resort and I’d much rather spend my time with actual people like in the olden days :-/
I think this is a good opportunity to collectively discuss what is causing us to lead this lifestyle.
Yeah, it really depends on the size of the roundabout. I’d say it would be 5 laps of a mini-roundabout before people started noticing. But if it’s a large motorway junction roundabout or even the M25, nobody might ever notice…
It should be on a pivot so it always faces where youre pulling from
Also do you wish you had taped dat ass more when you were my age?
Heah, I guess for people in this day and age health span maximisation (not life span) should be the main goal.
I see. I just feel a bit bad because I’ve spent the past few years living with my parents, without friends, stressing over university yet failing. And I’m really tempted to just say stuff it, move cities and actually live. My life has been so defficient in adventure up to now. I just can’t help but think that university, careers, office jobs etc. can wait when the (biological) clock is ticking.
What would you do differently if you were young this time? Asking as a 21M.
I was actually thinking about this. I think it’s partially because in both pictures, items which have a totally different function are graphically uniform (eg. in the bottom picture, one of the boxes takes you to an action, but another opens a passive PDF), and there are no icons. It’s like if on your computer, the setting app had the same icon as an ordinary folder.
And in Blackboard you see multiple levels of the app’s hierarchy on the screen at once — sometimes multiple levels are shown uniformly in the same UI element.
Oh good so it’s not just me. Yes that is Blackboard
I like that they give you a starter pack
Imagine being a travelling name salesman. This takes brand promotion to a whole new level.
He is clearly one of the treasured few
That sucks. I titally sympathize with the no third places thing. Have you tried one-off workshop events and canteens? Also volunteering
