I pay the artists writers sometimes not because I think they are owed something for their work, but because I want to reward well done art that I liked. It isn’t how I convince myself that piracy of media produced by large corperations is moral, I think piracy of media produced by large corperations is always moral because large corperations are inherently predatory on all public commons, especially when it comes to IP law. Just look at how they took away the entire concept of things entering the public domain from entire generations.

His motivations, and whether or not he is “evil” or just generally trying to do the right thing, are irrelevant in the face of his destructive political actions. The situation you described is asinine. First of all, a post with 100 upvotes should see the light of day, even if 500 don’t like it. Something that recieves a large amount of upvotes and downvotes is controversial, not a bad post or irrelevant. It also assumes there are no moderators to correct things that are truly against what that community wants to see.

For posts that are severly off topic or is against the rules in some way, that is what moderators are for.

Upvoting posts that are relevant or good quality and ignoring the rest does work though. There are several instances right now where it is working.

It works perfectly fine as a content curation method. I have no way to prove this for this, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it works better.
