Tell me you’ve never tried to look into actual communist history without telling me you’ve never tried to look into actual communist history…
So, basically, this person is happy to blind themselves to other viewpoints to avoid viewpoints they disagree with/people they claim are blind to other viewpoints.
… what an enlightened individual!

One of my favourite shows, Arrested Development, uses bleeps over swear words as pure comedy; the black bars are similar to me, they draw attention to the oddity rather than just call it what it is.
Nudity in general is fuckin silly, people should know about their bodies, everyone knows what a naked human looks like from looking at themselves, censoring non-pornographic nudity is stupid and only serves to intrigue and create mystique where it should simply inform and demystify.
Sherad@lemmygrad.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Which actor/actress are you unable to dissociate from one of his/her role?English7·4 months agoTom Cruise is just Tom Cruise to me, I never feel like he disappears into any kind of role - he’s just Tom Cruise pretending to be someone else who happens to look and act similarly to Tom Cruise.
With one exception, that being Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder 😆
Sherad@lemmygrad.mlto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•When is democracy appropriate and when is it not?English2·5 months agoDemocracy is good when it can’t be completely subverted by a couple of rich international oligarchs spending billions of dollars in a dedicated mass media campaign over a period of decades that beams a literal firehose of lies, half-truths, and the glazing of any person/organization that willingly assists them and does everything in their power to destroy and denigrate anything that even comes close to undermining them at the cost of factual reality directly into the eyeballs of anyone who owns a screen…
But other than that democracy is generally preferred, yes.

Pretty much broke my little brain for awhile trying to understand how a just and loving God could separate a young boy from his father for eternity.
Never could, and now I’m a proud atheist disappointment to my grandparents.
Politics?? In MY language conversation? Well, I never…
C’mon now.
