Mythical or not, how creatures or people are portrayed in media often has very little to do with how they actually are. Or especially how one acts towards an individual, such as you. As long as it’s not leading you into doing something dangerous, or withdrawing from reality, your version/interpretation is just as valid as the stories someone else dreamed up.

I’d say it’s pretty hard for a woman to both have enough experience to be taken seriously as a candidate and simultaneously have no past baggage or party agenda.

And I don’t think most male candidates are held to that standard, either.

Trump is directly responsible for Kavanaugh, Barret, and Gorsuch. That alone has been destructive already and will reap us tragic consequences for decades to come. Would Hillary have signed the ERA and gotten the right to bodily autonomy written into the law so it couldn’t be “reinterpreted” away? Maybe. But she wouldn’t have set attack dogs after it, and after trans people and immigrants.

The filling and sterile-sealing process in the factory is just as bad, so we already drank a bunch of microplastics the first time. At my age I’m mostly plastics, insecticides, lead and asbestos. When the alien bug people come, feed me to them first, maybe they’ll die.

That’s not true of most schools or most rains. I not only grew up in SoCal I also taught here, and only got two “rain days” in that entire time.

The bottles are very sturdy and even survive my dishwasher, although sometimes the rim/lid connection is a little wobbly afterwards. I don’t care, because at that point it’s only water, sunshine will dry it. If you just fill it with fresh water without washing, the water has a hint of the old flavor which can be nice too.

Like I said I’m not excusing either Gaetz or the US. I also wonder whether she would have been more comfortable leaving her teeth crooked if she weren’t in the US, unless it caused health or eating issues.

But it’s here on Lemmy, and in years past on the other place, where I have heard people’s frustration about teeth being separated as “luxury bones” under even the best healthcare systems. It goes back through history, separate schools, but the more we learn the more obvious it seems that dental care is healthcare.

From what I’ve read and heard, many poor people just don’t get any dental care, whatever country they’re in.

I wish for her sake she’d been able to find an orthodontia school where she could have gotten her braces from a student under the supervision of a professor.

Yes US healthcare sucks. And this particular story sucks. And Matt Gaetz sucks. But I just want to mention that many other countries with superior healthcare systems also suck when it comes to dental care. Despite the fact that a bad dental situation can have devastating health consequences for the whole body.

I completely agree. That said, a little lip balm while you’re in the waiting room can help with the chapping.

I started brushing before going and the visit takes less time now. And I get less of the “hygienist-induced gingivitis” (my phrase for soreness after they poke around in there) so it’s a win for me. It also feels more polite not to be breathing my lunch at them. But it’s your mouth, you do what you like.

Although, once alerted and not helping her, the school is at fault as well. And perhaps the individuals, such as the principal.

Seems to me a kid who’s essentially created child porn and distributed it at school would be a huge potential problem for the school.
