3·3 days agoLet’s be carefull now with the NYT… is there another source?
Checks out, I found Moscow Times:
A Russian national charged in Poland with spying for Russian intelligence has admitted to passing information to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), Polish media reported Monday, citing case files.
Investigators also allege that Rogov received a courier shipment containing components for a bomb, including liquid explosives, fuses and a power source.

1·7 days agoshould be an icon somewhere when accounts are < 1 months. See this picture it has this yellow thingy next to poster name <1 day
No real filter option as such, like Tesseract, but it helps for the " filtering".

1·7 days agoI’m not on that community but in World, Europe and Politics community I’ve seen this issue too. Don’t recognize that alias with the numbers though. But a new user posts a whole lot for 3 hours and then deletes it’s own account. And then gets a new account. Repeat.
See also ex. this post on Lemmy/support.
add: fyi a solution: Tesseract and Voyager have filters for accounts< 1 month old

World News@lemmy.world•Trump administration says Europe faces 'civilisational erasure'English
7·7 days agoOf course he does. Any real democracy is a threat to autocrats. Especially if they don’t cede to bullies. So the louder the autocrats bark, the bigger their fears are, and the stronger democracies get.
Hope BELGIUM @ DeWever understands this too. Maybe we need to mail the Belgian PM, so he doesn’t fold and ( does) release the frozen funds.

Never thought I’d get to say that in this context. The world must be upside down and the magnetic poles must have inverted.

World News@lemmy.world•Europeans accuse Putin of feigning interest in peace after talks with US envoysEnglish
12·9 days agoSo your thinking is something like:
because Ukraine was invaded in Crimea in 2014 and there after, in 2022 there was the full-blown invasion; you conclude that Europe is willfully ignorant of Russia being badfaith actor and that therefore Europe still naively believes that Ruzzia has peaceful intentions? Weird conclusion.
EU started with sanctions after Crimea was annexed. So no, Europeans didn’t think Russia had peaceful intentions. Also there is the shooting down in 2014 of a passangerplane MH17. So again, no.

World News@lemmy.world•Europe Wants to Get the Word Out: Russia Is to Blame for SabotageEnglish
61·9 days agoExactly, for those who can’t keep up with the events, the issue is that Ruzzia has been pushing their luck and EU itself is getting tired of the Ruzz “mosquitoes”, ie the many many on-going hybrid atacks incl. drones, fires, sabotage etc. This is ON TOP of the intensified atrocities by Ruzz in Ukraine and other places fyi. Time to do something, many in Europe think. From the NYT article, the European pov:
"Concern that sabotage is growing ever more dangerous has led some European leaders not just to blame Russia for hybrid activity more frequently but also to talk more openly how they will defend themselves.(…)
“This is a lot about ‘Now, Russia is at war with the West,’” said Charlie Edwards, a hybrid-warfare expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies and a former intelligence and security strategist for Britain. “That’s an important change.”(…)
Every time NATO and the E.U. don’t do something, the credibility of the alliance is questioned,” Mr. Edwards said, “for the simple reason that there seems to be no obvious, public response.”

18·11 days agoOnly the former head of the US forces in NATO, Ben Hodges , has oftentimes said similar lines afaik, like here :
Europe should “quit whining” about the threats it faces and “act like the superpower” that it is, according to a former senior US army officer.
Generally, he’s quite confident about Europe defending itself.

World News@lemmy.world•The week Europe realised it stands alone against Russian expansionismEnglish
9·13 days agoback in March 2025:
This was one of the several disasters that shook the Transatlantic relationship.( Nato Top, Tariffs, Mineral deal and the cancellation of Ukrainian aid are other examples). Europeans have tried to mend the rift and some believed it was (somewhat) working.
But since this week and after the latest “scandal”, it’s become clear to all memberstates, beyond doubt, that Trump’s interests lie completely elsewhere.
It’s not easy to change a relationship, it’s structures and institutions which have stood for at least 70 -80 years.

12·13 days agoGood summary and imo correctly nuanced views of where Europe has landed geopolitically this week.

This link states, though I can’t verify this, that:
According to classified BKA (Bundeskriminalamt, in Eng: Federal Criminal Police Office, Germany) reports obtained by the team:
1,072 incidents involving 1,955 drones in 2025 alone (as of November 19). Forty-five percent occurred in evening hours. Drone swarms flew “almost exclusively over or near military installations.”
Note: author checks out though.
