  • Nope, they test launched an experimental rocket from an experimental launch pad.

The pad actually survived and only needed minor repairs (completed within 3 months when it took well over a year to build) and going foreward a new suppression system will be used.

The only rocket that blew up recently was the experimental one but that was expected, they have 2 more test rockets built out, it was time to launch and get some real life data for future development. As long as the launch tower wasn’t destroyed the test was going to be considered a success.

They have only lost 2 rockets in actual commercial operations and that rocket holds the title of most reliable in the world currently.

There are a lot of reasons to dislike Musk, this is not one of them.

When Elon came on board Tesla their business plan was to buy existing super cars and an existing electric drive train and then convert the super cars.

This was all going to be done by hand in a workshop. They would do dozens of cars a year.

Without Elon that’s what they would be doing, he was behind the transition to building their own vehicles on their production lines and volumes comparable to normal manufacturers.

That’s why he won his lawsuit to be listed as a founder.

I use a broker and am currently with AAA. My broker told me triple A is the easiest to get people insured with so if they had a problem pretty much everyone else would too. I had about 5% of shingles lifting which would have costed 5k to fix but triple A said go fuck yourself and get a new roof, which thankfully was only 7k. But in that whole ordeal both my insurance broker and the roofing company told me that insurance companies rarely cover roofs over 10 years old. The roofer told me he over the past few years he’s gotten loads of people with decent roofs who’s hands were forced by insurance companies and the number is increasing every year. Sounds like you got lucky with a decent looking roof at 15 years or it was a while ago.

  • That 50 year roof won’t out live Ya, sorry to say. I had an 15 year roof when I bought and the insurance company forced me to get a new roof, according to my insurance broker most insurance agencies won’t agree to insure a roof older than 10 years old. So if you aim to sell between that 10 and 50 year point that roof will have to be redone. It’s stupid and fucking wasteful.
