when someone tailgates me, I slow down.
I don’t even notice tailgaters very often. I’m too busy singing along with whatever is playing on the radio.
this is a good option because it makes it easier and safer for the person behind you to overtake.
i often have cars in front of me when i’m on my motorcycle. they speed up which makes it impossible to safely overtake on curvy roads. just slow down a little and i will be out of your hair in seconds.
Gotta reduce speed so their tailgating distance is the appropriate gap

Anyone can stop their vehicle in a single meter if we’re both going slow enough.
The car behind chooses a following distance. The car in front can choose an appropriate speed to help things stay safe.
Plus, it helps them overtake safely to go have their inevitable future accident somewhere far from me.
