He sucks but he’s right. One of many strange cases demonstrating that Orange Hitler is even worse than the neocons.

The neocons had an intelligent banality to their evil. They could do things which rocked the boat, but they knew which rules to follow to get what they wanted. Trump isn’t limited by these things.

Of course, neocons helped enable Trump.

It wasn’t so long ago people were celebrating the fall of the USSR.

Then came the genocidal wars of the 1990s.

Do you really think the world’s biggest military is just going to fade quietly away?

Not in the slightest. But we are an empire in decline. A decline that was already happening before Chump. He just accelerated it. No empire has ever gone down quietly. Neither will ours. But it is going down. This is happening.

Best we can hope for is some kind of soft landing. But I’m expecting balkanization. It’ll start with California. They’re an economic powerhouse all on their own. Independent of the larger US as the 9th largest exonomy on earth. Texas will try. But it won’t go well for them. It’ll rejoin Mexico after a couple years of stumbling along on their own with the incompetent leadership they’ve had since the mid 90s. A lot of Canadian border states will join Canada.

We’re in for a bad time. But that’s ok. 300 million vs 8 billion is easy math. And without the US’ regressive hand at the till this world can progress. Advance.

Yes, I’m sure that when American hegemony is replaced by Chinese hegemony, all peoples of the world will rejoice and join hands in unity toward shared goals.

Independent of the USA , California will experience a massive decline. It will not be the 9th largest economy and will likely resemble an Eastern European economy very quickly.

Definitely. Nobody gets out of a failing empire whole. What was the benchmark for a safe, stable, post soviet union satellite? The lack of a genocide or civil war?

Oh yea, replacing a near-authoritarian globally dominant country with another full-authoritarian country. What could possibly go wrong!

In practice they have been pretty hands off as they develop the global south afaik.

They’re also only doing it for its resources, I think you could realistically assume, but it can’t be denied that their approach has brought much better results than America’s so far.

Are you talking about China’s belt and road initiative? Lol it’s all about soft power and that’s what they’re after, resources are just a happy bonus.

The US’s USAID is essentially the equivalent but yet the tankies will deride against it all day and even cheer Drump and Muskrat on because they’re doing something they want (dismantling it) but in the same breath, will defend Belt and Road as some greater altruistic good

so happy for liberals on the internet to finally have their own thought terminating cliche in “tankies”, the jealousy for “woke” must have been overwhelming

insomuch as USAID was a tool for exerting soft power by lifting up global communities and spreading goodwill for America through humanitarian effort, I support what it was, I didn’t want to see it gutted. insomuch as China is exerting soft power by building infrastructure and investing in industry, it’d be nice to see the US exert a little soft power against us citizens from time to time.

Lol how nice you can just label any word you don’t like as a “thought terminating cliche” or was it just an “Ill defined term” or was it just because “authoritarianism is ill defined”

In any case I used it to describe a group of people who are quite literally authoritarian as described here:

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tankie

Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to authoritarian communists, especially those who support or defend acts of repression by such regimes, their allies, or deny the occurrence of the events thereof.

insomuch as USAID was a tool for exerting soft power by lifting up global communities and spreading goodwill for America through humanitarian effort, I support what it was, I didn’t want to see it gutted. insomuch as China is exerting soft power by building infrastructure and investing in industry, it’d be nice to see the US exert a little soft power against us citizens from time to time.

              Yes, similar goals, differing execution

Except China is a full blown dictatorship fully committed to genocide and land grab their way to the top while the USA can still steer away from it even after everything that‘s already happening.

Bolton is an interesting character in that I believe he has the USA‘s best interest in mind but says and probably did a lot of evil things in the eyes of the rest of the world.

With that in mind I think that, yes, he is absolutely right but it doesn‘t and shouldn‘t be that way. The world needs to be less dependent on China or the USA and maybe here is the chance to do so.

I was a bit too young to be interested in US politics at the time other than they lied to invade Iraq for oil. That was somehow immediately clear to little me.
