It is an unfortunate situation in that half the people who voted in the US, specifically voted against protecting the weakest and most powerless. Many of themselves ARE part of that group, but don’t want help because it would also help other people.

At this point, those who DO want to protect the weakest and most powerless, are themselves powerless to help.
