    Preparation is the problem.

    If you know the enemy is going to walk across a specific field at a specific time you can prepare. Pre-sight artillery, arrange a mine field, lay an ambush, flood the field, etc.

    You can do anything, but you can’t do everything. In the military there is the concept of defeat-in-detail.
