Centrist Democrats like Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom seem to think the best way to disparage Donald Trump is to highlight his departures from free-market orthodoxy. Good luck with that.

        Seems to me that’s the emphasis she gave it too. Her point was that Trump is a tyrant, not that he is a communist.

          No, we called the USSR communist. After the USSR dissolved in 1991, Russia became an independent country, the Russian Federation, with a different political and economic system.

          A better comparison would be China, who does claim to be communist—yet has next to zero to do with actual communism (‘socialist’ market economy mixed with authoritarianism)
