Thats sad if they actually consider what they are doing art. Ive been out of the loop for a while but when I saw people making this stuff 15 years ago, it seemed like a thing a niche community was doing. I dont think anyone took it seriously. I still find songs that sound better sped up like this one is very funny try this one at 1.5 or 1.75 speed. Game changer kinda hits like rapgod from eminem
And on the topic of nightcore being art or not; who cares? Art doesn’t have to be this totally involved thing for every person’s every project. Making minor alterations to other people’s work is its own style and form of creative exploration and, if encouraged and engaged with sufficiently, can easily grow into something with more luster and prestige. And besides that, some songs do just be sounding better when played faster and higher than intended. Artists or not, good on em for playing around and finding the ones work.

So if they are monitizing it which i dont think they were doing 15 years ago I find that kind of scummy. but other than that i look at it as the same thing as those AMVs back in the day. Just something someone made for the love of the source material.
