I’m just asking, let’s do it without outright lies, as if everything will be fine. I am very interested to read your sincere answers. You can write to me personally if you want.
Over the next few years, the world will continue to heat, probably consistent with an exponential curve as we have been seeing for the last few decades. The AMOC (Atlantic meridional overturning circulation -current taking warm water from the Gulf to Europe) is slowing and could shut down at any time. Probably some time after 2030, but not long after.
Insect populations are still in freefall and so is soil aridification/nutrients loss. And with the loss of so many farm hands, it seems quite likely that a collapse of agriculture is on the table.
Fascism will continue to worsen and a world war seems quite likely. Civil war if not. Or maybe both. That’d be fun.
The medical system in the USA will be so strained from the cuts that there will be 10,000’s of deaths. Not that there are not currently, but the death rate in the country is certain to rise.
There could be a notable development in the Thwaites glacier in Antarctica. It could collapse and break up really any time. It’s being melted from underneath and it doesn’t look good. That one glacier could raise sea levels by about 10 ft I think.
Ongoing sea water heating and acidification is devastating coral reefs and biodiversity. This is compounded by the fertilizers that are being used in ever increasing amounts due to the aforementioned soil degradation. The fertilizers cause algal blooms which devour all the O2 in the water and then die off leaving a dead zone. These dead zones have been expanding and becoming more frequent.
Weather radar systems in the USA are being refunded, dismantled or attacked by terrorists at a rapid rate, so most likely there will be massive storms that are complete wild cards in that we will have no forewarning, no expectations of strength, no flight paths, no updating data. This will directly lead to many thousands of deaths.
There are many more horrifying things going on that will clap our collective cheeks in the coming decade/decades. It’s sure to be fun.
By the way, what are you planning to do in all this madness?
I’m the wrong person to ask. My plan from the beginning has been “die fighting before it gets too bad” and it’s looking like that time is rapidly approaching.
All Oppressors Must Die.
Well, to have fun to the fullest, I think you’ll need a clear plan and anonymity if you mean fighting bad people. If yes, then paranoia won’t hurt you, believe me, it helps if you don’t abuse it.
It’s a real shame those with similar views must needs be so scared to open up about it and find friends, due to the constant infiltration by pathetic feds bent on enforcing the will of capital.
If only there were some way to avoid such traps.
At this point, I don’t see how we’re not going to have a world war. There’s too much teetering on the edge, too many critical resources we’re fighting over, and too much money being pumped into every major country’s defense budgets. The status quo for politicians and CEOs is to blatantly ignore reality. As the climate crisis gets worse, resources are only going to get more scarce.
Well, considering the animal nature of man and his psyche, a world war and a shortage of resources is not if but when, and this when is getting closer.
2030 is just in 5 years. Everything will be very similar.
2050 onwards there may be some big changes, like big political changes within a big country like China, EU, USA or Russia.
2100 onwards, probably some big war that will reshape the world.
If not sooner.
Not sure. How interesting would you find a desert planet?
Yeah, that would be on par with the game Stalker, right?
It is going to suck, most likely. There might be a high probability of shortage of critical resources like water, food due to global warming. Also global warming might increase the likelihood of extreme natural events like floods, droughts, etc. So yeah, it is going to be pretty shit, imo.
Yes, for example, I saw people where the wind carried them. And also floods lol.
if by interesting you mean bad.
then very.
How will things be? Really rough and really dark, for several decades.
Hopefully we’ll all make it out to the other side, and see a (likely transformed) world trying to rebuild itself for the better.
Yes, and then the slow disintegration of the illusion, just like in Blade Runner.
I’m in the west, so for me probably not very different from today except:
Worse weather (heatwaves, storms)
Better medecin, especially for age related diseases (including aging itself)
AI quite human like in talk (still no robots roaming around)
Robots are too expensive, I think they will only be used in big cities.
Mad Max yo
Can we do Waterworld instead?
Let’s just add a few more works to Mad Max and we’ll get something interesting.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face— forever.
It’s unlikely that it will last forever. But it will be extremely painful, so much so that life will seem… I don’t even know how to describe it in words.
WiFi 8
Free energy discovered by 2030, shortly followed by open source ASI, ushering in a rapid and violent redistribution of power and resources, culminating in a worldwide utopia by 2040
Yes, of course, it will look more like a dystopia i think.
Awful. There will be conflict in every continent. There will be genocide against nonwhites in North America; it will start in the USA, then later the Americans will expand it out to Mexico and the rest of Latin America just because. Russia will launch a genocide against various Slavic countries (expanding past Ukraine) and eventually western European countries will be drawn into war. India will finally nuke Pakistan, and will finally kill its own Muslim population like it has always wanted. Africa will come more under Chinese and Russian influence but it won’t get better in any country on that continent. It might be more stable if more countries are tied more to China than Russia. Australia and New Zealand will be more under Chinese influence, but it is not a bad thing for them. Millions will die overall, but it won’t be a bad thing. Less humans around the better.
Yeah, sure, it’ll be fun if you survive and don’t die, but I think it’s better to go to heaven so you don’t have to see the shit that’s going to happen in the future and at least stay free, even if it’s in a coffin.
Back to the future promised us flying cars, and it turns out they were lying. I trust no predictions.
Well, some scientists have been saying for a long time that all this is nonsense and that we cannot create such technologies with limited resources. Yes, they said all sorts of things, but I recommend listening to sensible scientists, they know very well how things really are. Although they are usually not shown, and are blocked, so finding them can be difficult or even miraculous.
Sitcoms with AI laugh tracks.
Well, yes this is terrible things.
