Just stop? Some things don’t need to be a “brand”. There fine as one shots.

Does it need to be improved from a money standpoint? It seems to continue to be a money printer and my coworkers who like this kind of shit keep watching every new Star Wars thing and enjoying it even more than the original movies so from that standpoint I think it’s doing just fine. There is no issue with the “brand” from Disney’s point of view. As long as the general public continue to consume whatever slop they slap the star wars name on and love it, why would Disney ever do anything different?

I’m not sure how recoverable it is at this point, but if you want Star Wars to act as a forever-story, don’t treat it as one single story. Its okay if plot doesn’t directly build with each release. Its okay if it doesn’t connect to other parts of the cannon. Its okay if you have no shared characters. Hell, its even okay (if not ideal) if some media contradicts each other. The important part is making good stories, and if a new peice of media wouldn’t work when attached to a larger plot, don’t attach it to the larger plot. Simple as that.

Look at something like 40K, for example. While yes, there is a “main” plot, its only a small part. Honestly, fans often outright ignore the “main plot” Horus Hersey books, in favour of the more fun and compartmentalized books like the Eisenhorn Trilogy or the ork books because those are the books that most revel in the setting and themes of 40K and aren’t burdened by dozens of other books that they have to tie in to.

they should have episodic plots, much like with old trek.the current formulation, is build up to a very low effor galaxy threat.

The problem isn’t the length, its the fact that stories are warped or straight-up built around every single (often not even) loose thread from the original trilogy and to a lesser extent, the prequels. For example, the Madalorian was great for the first season, where yes, it was episodic, but it did still have an overarching plot that built up to a climatic final battle. Where it started to run into problems was when it had to tie back into the original plot. Mandalorians lost all mystique, pacing was hampered by exposition, and the focus was draw away from the main characters and the plot in service of tie-ins to Ashoka and the main franchises.

Ultimately, it should be about telling the best stories. Sometimes, that might be episodic as worked well for Mandalorian, sometimes a continuous plot like Andor, and sometimes it is a full movie that does fit alongside the original cannon like Rogue One.

Explore stories with lower stakes that focus on different aspects of Star Wars. Not everything needs to be an epic galaxy-wide conflict that somehow includes ten OT characters as fanservice.

There are millions of planets, trillions of sentient beings, all with their own motivations and philosophies.

As controversial as Acolyte was, I really liked that it showed us force users that were neither Jedi nor Sith and how incapable the Jedi were of accepting that.

    Hot take:

End it… Just canonize a subset of the lore, remake that subset from beginning to end so it tells one concise story, and let it be done.

The real problem with Star Wars is that the lore keeps getting milked. It isn’t a story at all anymore. It’s just an IP. A cash cow to be milked. A dead horse for beating. Nothing they change now will fix that unless they uproot everything and remake it into something respectable.

Explore The Old Republic era more. And smaller, contained stories. Leave the grand, bombastic stuff to the trilogy movies.

Create more adult themed Star Wars movies/shows, similar to Rogue One/Andor. Stop trying to milk baby Yoda snd other little kid bullshit.

I mean, The Mandalorian started by cutting someone in half with a door 60 seconds into the first episode. It’s not exactly “little kid stuff.”

Be upset about jar jar. Old people can like cute stuff and we dont inherently hate children.

          Younglings on the other hand.

I agree. The Mandalorian was great. Not Andor great, but waaay better than the latest trilogy. Now, Book of Boba Fett on the other hand…

I just can’t reconcile the guy that has to be told to tone it down a bit by Darth Vader, to the pussy he becomes in that show.

And even that is a masterpiece compared to the Obi Wan series…

Hire Kai Patterson who did an amazing job fan-editing some of the shows into movies. He is of course still limited by the source material but especially his version of Ahsoka was a lot more enjoyable than the show.
