  • Being a short haired dude I struggle to understand how hair, which is basically dead tissue would benefit from moisturizing

What about leather, could it benefit from applying a layer of oil? Or wood? Or rubber? Or cast iron? Living tissue is not the only thing physically affected by moisture levels.

Oil seals in moisture to prevent hair from drying out, which, obviously, will change it’s texture and elasticity. The skin on your head naturally produces grease to keep your hair moisturized, but when you wash with soap, it strips that grease out. If you shower regularly, you need to replace it.

I used the word “health” because it is commonly used to describe hair texture. You won’t be medically unhealthy if you don’t use conditioner, but your hair will probably be dry as shit and frizzy.

  • It is the optimal aspect ratio for web browsing, coding, and reading/editing documents. Most websites and documents fill the sides of the screen with spacers to present the content in the relative center. Instead of just displaying wasted space, an aspect ratio that is taller displays more content.

Most screens have been marketted for media like movies and games, where wider screens are a better.

  • It’s beef, so the recommendation is 145 for 3 minutes, not 165.

And also, 165 is a guarantee that meat is fully pasteurized without needing to know any other information. It is a simplified recommendation that is designed to be easy to follow and hard to mess up: if you check the temperature and you see 165, you know it is safe. However, 2 pieces of information (temperature + amount of time at that temperature) allows for a pasteurization curve. Here is the pasteurization curve for poultry:

This shows that poultry that maintained 160 for 12 seconds is equally as safe as poultry that was 165 for any amount of time. Same for poultry that was 155 for 48 seconds, 150 for 2 minutes and 48 seconds, 145 for 9.2 minutes, or 140 for 27.5 minutes.
