Just because I can tell that something isn’t funny doesn’t mean that I can write something funny myself.

I think that they’re making a poor attempt to point out that the proportional part is based on money not people.

Games@lemmy.world•It turns out Saudi Arabia will own 93.4 percent of EA if the buyout goes through, which is effectively all of itEnglish
5·10 days agoYeah but it isn’t really redundant (even if it could have been worded better). Someone might believe that the other shareholders have some say in how the company operates when they won’t.
So, as far as control over the company is concerned, the Saudis have 100% control even though they don’t have 100% of the shares.

World News@lemmy.world•New party founded by Corbyn adopts Your Party as nameEnglish
1·11 days agoI can’t see how that’s true as she didn’t even get to a point where our own MPs agreed on what Brexit should be and didn’t have a big enough majority to push anything through. Then she proper fucked up by announcing a general election the result of which was that she had even less power.
In my view she simply wasn’t effective enough to have fucked us forever.

6·12 days agoTheresa May wasn’t a party leader when we chose to leave the EU.
David Cameron was the leader of the Conservatives at the time of the referendum, the one who promised the referendum to get votes for his party, the one who greatly underestimated the fight that was needed to be able to stay in the EU and the one who ran away from the steaming pile of shit that he’d created.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•There’s a selection bias baked into US democracy that most people never stop to consider. Owning a car significantly increases the likelihood of voting.English
6·15 days agoBut discouraging the “wrong” people from voting is a deliberate tactic.

55·18 days agoWe used to call the code that determined NPC behaviour AI.
It wasn’t AI as we know it now but it was intended to give vaguely realistic behaviour (such as taking a sensible route from A to B).

1726·24 days agoThere’s a few Ts in that comment. There are one or two people who replace “th” with that symbol in the communities that I subscribe to.
I also find it mildly infuriating.

333·1 month agoWould you not consider an author who sold millions of books worldwide to be qualification enough for world news?
As a non American I wouldn’t mind articles about American authors in world news. It would have to be those with a high international profile though which gives the problem about where the line is.

I had a terrible first play through.
Tap for spoiler
I lost Gale to the rift because I didn’t understand the DnD mechanics and chose the strength option on a rogue.
I chose the Druid over the Dark Elf and then failed to find the quest starter for the blight thing.
I lost Laezel (sp?) to the zombie girl.

World News@lemmy.world•Andrew's prince title and HRH style formally removed by the KingEnglish
71·1 month agoI read an article on this a while ago and I’m not sure what UK crimes he is known to have committed.
Our age of consent is 16 so he didn’t sexually assault a minor. If he did what he did then in the present day then he’d have broken sex trafficking laws but those laws were weak or non existent at the time.
Obviously, there’s a fair chance that he did commit a crime that we don’t know about and finding out about that would be made very difficult due to who he is.
It’s getting to be that way in the UK too.
It used to be that everyone could get an NHS dentist and get a lot of work done for free but not anymore. I think that we’re still all entitled to an NHS dentist but there aren’t enough of them so only kids have easy access.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Popular Tech Youtuber Enderman loses his YouTube channel after AI errorEnglish
4·1 month agoThey spent billions of dollars to develop and train the AIs that they use. They’re not going to remove it for fucking up someone’s YouTube channel.
They wouldn’t remove it even if it caused someone’s death (which it probably has considering that they have been shown to be very bad at therapy and that people go to them for therapy).

They’ll probably say that it’s for the environment and that you should use a reusable bag for it.
Companies are good at doing things to benefit the environment when it also benefits their bottom line.
