That picture of the warbler from the 14 year old is nuts. I thought he must have wanted to take a shot of the trees and this happened by chance. But i have seen that he has already won some photo competition in 2020 (when he was ten!?) with a shot of a bird. How can you plan this? The position of the warbler in the patch of sky. He must have been super close too, or used a remote trigger.

Thak you! I have been following the family dramas of three pigeon couples in my yard since winter and nobody to talk to about it, haha. I feel like my friends think i’m crazy.

Removing the nest was kinda yuck, some weird substances there. And so much pigeon shit. But the lil ones turned out amazing. Compared to the other young pigeons they seem to be in amazing shape. Photos from today:

I believe the older one is a male, i think it is doing warning calls when i get out on the balcony, but it sounds very un pigeon like, cute baby pigeon sound.

Haven’t seen it in for two days, was already a bit worried. It slept quite a few more days on my balcony but no more. It has no problem eating out of my hand, brother is a bit more sceptical but does it too. Mom and pops are also daily guests, as is the “aunt” and the poor “uncle” who took care of the widow, which sadly must have passed away like two weeks ago. She was such a gentle and beautiful pigeon RIP. 🥲 Life goes on.

Looking at your examples:

The movie ones: To me the world one looks like the way healthier community, a lot more different users posting stuff, on lemm.ee it’s mostly some power users creating all the content, actually really only moderators of that community. I find you talking about how it is the more active community a bit dishonest tbh. Same i found with the dataisbeautiful one. I have a feeling you care more about computers (fedi infra) than the topics.

The gaming one somebody else told you their opinion on it, and why it is a good community.

The android ones… i don’t really have an opinion on it. IIRC at first they were all on the world (or.ml?) one and then created the lemdro.id instance. What about the .ml one by the way? Why is it only ever a problem when world has a community that exists elsewhere?

Generally i don’t think having multiple active c’s is all that problematic, at least they are active.

From your message, I feel like people on LW want to keep communities on “LW instances”, I’m wondering why.

Because these communities are already there and are active, that’s why. Not everybody has to share your enthusiasm for removing communities from lemmy.world.
