It’s the SUV drivers fault, but the cement truck should not be able to lose its load through a sudden stop.

Considering that the driver managed to stop without colliding with a sudden obstacle, I’m not quite as sure that they were going too fast. Other driver caused a major danger by not respecting right of way.

The fact that stopping made them shoot their load is pretty obvious evidence they were driving too fast.

The truck driver was going at a perfectly fine speed, as evidenced by the fact he was able to fully stop before hitting the white car despite having no warning.

I think there are at least 3 idiots here:

    • The suv driver. fairly obvious
    • The mixer driver. They shouldn’t have been driving fast enough where sudden breaking would make them lose their load. Also may have been overfilled.
    • The property owner of the property suv driver is pulling out of. The tree/shrubs block a good portion of the view into the roadway. The shrub is overgrown into the sidewalk and makes it a blind turn unless you pull Into the sidewalk and the curb.
    • there may be a bunch of idiots with city planning/ zoning to allow the bush to be placed so close to the roadway in the first place

As funny as the gif is, this could’ve been avoided if there was one less idiot

Driver: I stopped 50 tons in 2 seconds

Internet Rando: you should not have made a mess on the idiots whose lives you just saved with your quick thinking.

Lets say it wasn’t an idiot but an animal that jumped into the road that’s now covered in concrete. Is the driver still not at fault for driving too fast?

Narrowly avoiding a collision isn’t the sign of a good driver.

Good drivers are the ones who prevent the risk of narrow misses to begin with.

I wholeheartedly agree with the other posters that the truck driver was driving too fast for that road and the load they were carrying.

Narrowly avoiding a collision where someone pulls out in front of you unexpectedly is the sign of a good driver.

If someone was driving along and a deer jumped out from the side of the road, would they be a bad driver for hitting them? No, because there was no logical way they could have stopped in time, even while following the speed limit.

The same applies here, this is a heavy load and really doesn’t seem to be travelling more than 30km/h. They can’t crawl along a road at half of the speed limit just because they have a heavy load, otherwise every dump truck would have to be followed by route navigators like wide-load operations have to be.

The guy was a great driver and sacrificed a small bit of his cement load for someone’s vehicle to not be totaled. I wholeheartedly agree with the other person who said they are a good driver.

Source: DZ Licensed driver who has driven plenty of these vehicles before.

I don’t know how people can downvote this. You’re 100% correct.

There are always going to be mistakes, whether it’s mechanical failure or operator error due to inexperience/sickness/lack of common sense. It’s more proper to say a good driver is someone who turns a potential accident into a narrow miss.

I think the vegetation would be ok if the other factors weren’t so bad. Mixer should be roadsafe and be driven roadsafe, personal car driver should heed to the laws of driving.
