Now that the code for Command & Conquer Generals (along with other classic RTS games from EA) is open source, the community is working on getting it working natively on Linux without the need of Wine / Proton.

    I’m so happy to read this. I hope they will keep language sounds as EA did a funny work with that. My dream is that we could play this game again without having to deal with installation tutorials and hacked files.

    It works on wine. Me and my buddys have been playing the shit out of it on weekends. I really hope they can fix EA’s bugs. Like the game randomly crashes for no reason and lags when you have a bunch of hoards for GLA. ON A AMD THREADRIPPER. So its defiantly a software issue

        One of my buds, got 6 hoards and was playing stealth general and cloaked them all. I screamed like a cat that hasn’t been fed!

        It was all in good fun, but man you can do some broken stuff if you play your cards right

    It’a kinda frustrating how often a native Linux port is a super-fucking-trivial job and they had decades to do it and just could not be arsed.
