    I never noticed before, but he uses the raindrops themselves to define and fill in the background shapes - there’s no other fill except for Calvin’s pants. Waterson was just such a brilliant artist, what an inspired way of capturing the diffused appearance that early morning hard rain can produce.

      I always appreciate people pointing out things like this.

      It might be obvious to some but I’ve never had much of an opportunity at an education outside of the absolutely necessary so whilst I appreciate art, I don’t have the knowledge or language to explain why I like it.
