Thanks to the commenter who reminded me that it’s not bad to be reminded that the term is only a pejorative because conservative racists made it so.
Motherfucker spend 20+ years telling us to wake up. Then complain when we woke.
“wake up sheeple”
…
“not like that!”
n-word replaced by w-word
Yeah because we take the W

I just don’t like the term woke (even if I’m probably more ‘awake’ than I’m not, lol, whatever that means) because it’s loaded and represents too many ‘ideologies’, at times conflicting. I’m reasonable.
The ideology of being aware of structural social injustices?
That’s just having eyes and ears, lol. And a heart to be on the side of the oppressed and not the oppressor, I guess. I prefer using other words, that’s all. Best case scenario, it’s tacky/vacuous; worst case scenario it means I consider the oversexualization of everything (and even infantilization like Sabrina Carpenter’s whole act, for instance), ‘polyamory’ and AGP transexualism, for instance, valid ways of living/thinking simply because I don’t think people should be persecuted because they put on a short skirt (or the same but they have a penis)/like the same sex/are not nationalistic Europeans…
Being neither is an option.
You don’t have to play the games the social media companies want you to.
Choosing silence is choosing the side of the oppressor. Silence only ever supports the status quo.
you know woke as a term and signifier predates the industrial revolution, right? the sentiment shared in the post doesn’t have anything to do with social media. being indifferent to woke, anti-woke sentiments is ultimately anti-woke and reflects poorly on the holder of that stance
According to wikipedia it was already a known term in the 1860’s. But that’s a hundred years after the industrial revolution started. Still a damn long time though.
i guess i was mainly thinking of the second industrial revolution which was much more active in the region “woke” originated from than the first industrial revolution, so that’s on me
I mean sure, you could ignore the struggles of others not like you and be like the the White Moderates in “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” - that is what most people do, no doubt.

You might want to look at the link about the origin of the term.
