The world hates pedophiles, a great deal of people I know think that they deserve to die in jail.
So why is everyone so upset that Epstein was killed in jail by the government?
I think he deserved it. That’s my opinion
I’d imagine, if he was killed, it was to stop him testifying against all the other paedophiles he enabled, in order to get a reduced sentence. Unsurprisingly, this scenario annoys people.
Because he might have had some interesting things to testify.
Yeah me too, people are upset because it was clearly a coverup.
Nobody gives a shit about Epstein, that isn’t where all the smoke is coming from.
First of all, what makes you think he was killed by a government? It’s all speculation at this point.
The only thing that is certain is that his death is very convenient, to a lot of very rich, very well connected people who may or may not have organized to allow him to be “suicided” in jail. Most of these people probably did not want him to reveal that they also were pedophiles, and that they had sex with very young children that Epstein procured for them.
But beyond that, there is the question of justice, and the fact that victims did not get it, and other guilty parties were not judged.
In other words, money and power can protect you from the law. This is what riles people off. Epstein is dead, but justice has not been served.
Setting aside Epstein, why are you ok with the idea that the government you support financially is murdering people who’ve been jailed pre-trial? (Not saying that’s what happened; just thinking through the scenario OP suggested)
That’s a shocking line for many people
The notion that he was killed, or intentionally allowed to kill himself, or similar, isn’t that the government just hated him so much for his crimes that they wanted him dead. The suspicion goes that he had evidence on some or all of his clients, that he might’ve revealed for one reason or another, and was presumably killed to protect them.
They’re not feeling sorry for Epstein, they’re mad because they got told “there’s a bunch of child abusers out there, to include some percentage of the rich, famous, and politicians running the country, and you’re never going to know who they are, nor will they face any penalty”, and they want to see something done about it.
Further, it can tie into existing political polarization. If you know some percentage of especially the people in politics are abusers, but you don’t know which ones, the natural tendency is going to be to assume that it’s mostly the side you don’t like (because of course, one already trusts those people less than one’s own side).
This gives one an excuse to hate the other side even more (this isn’t to say that this issue is evenly distributed and doesn’t actually affect one side more than the other, but that the everyday supporters on both sides both think, rightly or wrongly, that the list is predominantly the politicians and celebrities that they don’t like, and view it as a potential chance to see those people removed from power and punished for a deserved reason).
It’s that whole ‘due process’ thing, long ago forgotten…
I think that’s more a thing whether you appreciate law and order and a government following rules. An individual might be really bad. But are we a civilised democracy and follow the procedures that come with it? Or are we some dictatorship or a bunch of barbarians and do whatever feels right on a given day? That’s not really concerned with Epstine specifically. But we need to pick one if the two options.
I’m not sure whether he would have been provided with a reduced sentence. Maybe a proper trial could have convicted more people, and help understand how these things can be tackled in the future. Instead they chose the easy route and this won’t happen.
Just a reminder that pedophile is not synonymous with child rapist.
Epstein was pedophile Jesus. He died to save others.
Can I read the facts somewhere (preferably the true ones)?
Pedophiles don’t deserve to die in jail, that is the easy way out. They deserve the shame, humiliation and sodomy till they die.
