Governor Walz is grieving the loss of our state’s house speaker, Melissa Hortman, who was killed by someone influenced by violent extremist Republican rhetoric. As the polar opposite of the Republicans— who would never take a milligram of blame for Hortman’s death— Walz is introspective, looking for anything he might have been able to do differently to change this outcome, which is a common part of the grieving process.

So I don’t blame him for not thinking clearly here, but the truth is that the sort of rhetorical attacks he was making on the Republicans is sorely needed. Calling them “weird” was clearly a winning strategy and the campaign consultants who got him to stop are at least somewhat responsible for the fact we now live in a fascist dictatorship.

No one would ever mistake Walz’s rhetoric as an actual call to violence (even though Republicans would be certain to make that bad faith claim). We need to call out who these people are and what they’re doing in a direct, non-apologetic manner. I hope Walz comes around to understanding this and goes back to calling out the fascists.

As a Minnesotan, I’m proud to have him as our governor because he actually works in the best interest of all of his constituents, regardless of whether or not they voted for him. I believe that he is a genuinely good person which is a severely endangered species in politics.

I am very disappointed in how the Harris/Walz campaign built its platform and conducted itself, but I don’t think any of it was Tim’s fault. If he had been the top of the ticket (with an actual primary), I think things would have turned out very differently. His genuine care for other humans was squashed and sidelined by the campaign in an astonishingly stupid strategy to try to look tough to appeal to centrists and republicans.

If Walz is even the slightest bit responsible for what happened, it’s because he wasn’t aggressive enough.

Even if the full list is released and there is high quantity photos and videos of trump doing the most disgusting shit you can imagine I’m sad to say that he will still have support. It is a cult, and they will continue to support dear leader no matter what. And they will be willing to harm others if told so by Donny.

Donald Trump is an existential threat. What response is merited by an existential threat?

Walz was never the guy for the occasion, but he mildly emulated it a few times.

Why regret it? Its literally what we should do. We aren’t gonna hug our way out of this one, and believe me I wish we always could.

My thoughts exactly… that’s what we loved of Tim Waltz, was that he didn’t fricking clutch his perls, go “oh my god, did I offend the snowflakes, I’m so sorry”. He didn’t call for violence, he just called for matching their rhetoric.

I couldn’t snore harder. The worst in you is asking other people to be mean? Oh me oh my I’m quaking in my booties. I’m sure if only you had been a kindler gentler gooder boy you would have won the election. Whatever

I think if the Dems ran on a platform of caring about people and trying to make their lives better instead of a platform of warmongering and performative “toughness”, things would have turned out differently. I would have been much happier about my vote if they had been kinder and gentler by doing things like opposing Israel’s genocide and working to actually improve people’s lives in meaningful ways.

So you’d rather have someone be hateful than kind? Like, I get it, MAGA deserves the hate. But is looking down on people for having a conscience really the best mentality to have? Would you call your mom a pussy because she felt bad for saying a curse word?

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I’m just saying that making fun of people for having a conscience about it is just being a shitty person. The people that deserve the hate don’t have a conscience about it and 100% deserve the hate.
