Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus)
A female Snowy Owl falls to the ground after defending herself against a Pomerine Jaeger. As the Jaeger attacks in flight, she somersaults in the air and presents her razor-sharp talons.
To be fair, Jaeger is a fistfight in a bottle anyway. That bird was probably swinging at everything that moved to start, and had the misfortune to run into a Snowy!
After some more research, the Jaeger is no slouch. It leads the life of a sky pirate. It antagonizes, steals, and is big and sturdy enough to pull it off.
This bird feeds on fish, carrion, scraps, smaller birds up to the size of common gull and rodents, especially lemmings. It robs gulls, terns and even gannets of their catches. Like most other skua species, it continues this piratical behaviour throughout the year, showing great agility as it harasses its victims. Only the Great Black Backed Gull, White-Tailed Eagle and Golden Eagle are known to take adult, healthy pomarine jaeger.
When Golden Eagles are the next rung up from you, you know your genetic legacy of piratin’ the lower ones is ironclad, 🤌🏼
…you fucking with the big feather now, bitch!..
From the look of a Jaeger’s feet, it brought a stick to a knife fight!
More like a slapper to a duel, if Golden Eye is any reminder.
“Yeah but can your fancy Snowy owl do this!? Ha! Hey! Ha! Ho!”
Ol’ white owl, she ain’t what she used to be,
ain’t what she used to be,
ain’t what she used to be!
