“stereotype” means “a solid copy” - as in a mold, plate or cast. The metaphor being that everyone who does or is XYZ came from the same manufacturing process and therefore is the same.
There is no stereotype of being clean shaven because you can’t say “all people who shave are XYZ” and have it make sense.
