Deckbuilders are one of my favorite genres and Dominion and Clank are both in my collection, including addons and so forth. I also tried El Dorado but have to say it felt like a poor version of Clank. I did not find it very thrilling or the cards fun.

I also had the pleasure of playing El Grande and for that it is a Eurogame, its pretty much confrontation pure. It worked really well though and I think its a very special game. If you can get your hands on it, I really recommend it for 4 to 5 players!

For me my Deck building option would be Paperback - the introduction of having to create words puts a really unique twist on the genre and also changes the way that you perceive the market because you have to make sure you’re balancing consonants and vowels to be able to make words in future hands

I’ve got Hardback, which is closer to deckbuilding with a lighter word-building focus, and I think is more accessible for those who aren’t into word games as much, as usually you won’t need to build very long words unlike with Paperback. Both are great games though!

Tyrants of the Underdark is my favorite deck builder. The control board provides a good focus for player interaction and back and forth between them players while still maintaining a core of building an efficient deck for what you are trying to achieve.

I recognize a lot of games my friend group has played in here, and so I think I’ll be checking out some of the other recommendations given as well. Good post, thanks for sharing

Even though I sometimes disagree with Nick’s likes and dislikes I always enjoy the podcast. The format is great and very informative once I calibrate for our differences of taste. And having it both as a pod and text is very handy!

I hope Rumble Nation comes back into print someday, would love to try.
